Organization Spotlight: Local Legends Basketball

Marquee Sports and Events has a passion for the community. Over the course of the year, we will be posting spotlights of various organizations that we have partnered with or participated in our tournaments.

Each of these organizations make a positive impact on their community. As part of these spotlights, we will highlight their directors and let them tell everyone about the things that make them and their organization special.

The second organization and leader in our spotlight series is Local Legends Basketball located in Richmond, Virginia. The director of Local Legends Basketball is Ryan Marable.

The following are questions we asked Ryan and his responses.

Q: In 3-5 words describe your program?

• Organized

• Passionate

• Experienced

• Development

• Player/Family Focused

Q: What was your motivation to start basketball training?

• To increase the amount of quality basketball players in the 804 community.

Q: What makes your athletic program different from others in the RVA area?

• As a former player and now coach in this area my whole life, there are so many other great organizations and people out there so I would say Local Legends has tried to take the positives from them and put our own spin on it. Because of the developed relationships I have with many former players in this area, we like to connect those “Legends” with the youth and have them have a place to give back as much as possible. We pride ourselves on our organization, communication, and using our experience to provide a fulfilling experience to our kids and parents.

Q: Why motivates you and your staff on a daily basis to provide the quality of services you do?

• The kids provide the motivation for our program. Watching them develop their games and relationships with our coaches and legends is what sports are all about. We strive to make the game easier for kids and the process easier for their parents.

Q: Why should a parent place their child in your program?

• Parents should know that everything we do is based off caring about the overall child/family and our growing experience allows us the ability to put our kids in a position to develop both on and off the court. Through experience we know that what we tell kids and parents is what they NEED to hear. It might not always be what they WANT to hear but it comes from a genuine want for each kid to be better than if they had not been a part of Local Legends.

Q: What is the ultimate goal of Local Legends?

• Our ultimate goal is to keep affording players and parents a place to come for programs, teams, camps, etc. Their goals are our goals and we will work as much as we can to put our kids in a position to succeed and to achieve their short term and long term goals. And when they do, they can come back and give back to the next generation of Legends!!
